The State Minister for Economic Affairs, Albrecht Gerber, visits Endress+Hauser at Reinach

For more than 20 years, Endress+Hauser has played an important part in the economic success of the Brandenburg location. This was reason enough for the Minister of Economic Affairs, Albrecht Gerber, to visit the Swiss head office of the industrial instrumentation specialist.

The silicon measuring cells developed and produced by Endress+Hauser in Stahnsdorf south-west of Berlin are small, sensitive and highly resilient. The high-tech sensors from Brandenburg are installed in pressure instruments and reliably render their services in process engineering applications all over the world. Endress+Hauser employs 84 associates at the Stahnsdorf site; at present, the company is training three apprentices at this site.

During a visit in Swiss Reinach, the Brandenburg Minister for Economic and Energy Affairs, got a picture of the global business of the process instrumentation specialist. Dr. Andreas Mayr, Managing Director of the Endress+Hauser Competence Center for Level and Pressure Instrumentation in Maulburg in Southern Germany, and Dr. Gerhard Jost, responsible for production at the Managing Board, talked to the minister about current developments and challenges.

The delegation promoting the capital region of Berlin-Brandenburg as a business location in Switzerland also included Lioba Weitzel, Head of the Department of Foreign Trade at the Ministry, Dr. Steffen Kammradt, Managing Director of ZukunftsAgentur Brandenburg, as well as Verena Heyner, Director for International Business Development at the ZukunftsAgentur. In the evening, the participants met for dinner at the residence of the German ambassador in Bern.

Unique know-how

For almost four decades, Endress+Hauser has procured pressure sensors from Brandenburg. The cooperation with the former VEB Geräte- und Reglerwerk Teltow started in 1977; in 1994, Endress+Hauser took over the spun-off pressure instrumentation section. In 2009, the Stahnsdorf site moved to a new building for which Endress+Hauser had invested about nine million euros in respect of the construction and the plant. Almost half of the production area has been constructed as a clean room.
