Bottlenecks in delivery logistics
European courier, express and parcel service providers are working at the limit of their capacity
Bottlenecks in delivery logistics are currently causing delays in the shipment of goods in many parts of Europe. The boom in online shopping is pushing courier, express and parcel service providers to the limits of their capabilities, particularly in France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. This situation could continue for several weeks, as many countries are restricting movement due to the coronavirus pandemic and winter weather is affecting traffic.
Driven by the coronavirus pandemic, some logistics service providers are currently having to handle eight times the volume of shipments as in the same period last year. In some cases, this has resulted in significant delays in the delivery of our products. Although additional vehicles and drivers are being deployed, there is a lack of electronic handheld devices to document deliveries. As a result, it is no longer possible to track the delivery status of all shipments in real time.
Endress+Hauser regrets possible delays in delivery, over which we unfortunately have no control. In urgent cases, our sales centers are working with our customers to find solutions to ensure the shortest possible transit times.
